Bibliotecas Amigáveis para Idosos
Temos trabalhado para alcançar o status de Age Friendly para cada uma de nossas 8 bibliotecas locais e nosso serviço de biblioteca móvel.
Cada filial da biblioteca nomeou um membro da equipe para ser um dedicado Campeão Amigo da Idade. Esses Age Friendly Champions concluíram o treinamento e realizaram uma pesquisa com os membros de sua comunidade local para identificar três ações que poderiam ser realizadas para melhorar a forma como a biblioteca se envolve com os idosos em sua biblioteca.
Nos últimos meses, a equipe da biblioteca tem trabalhado arduamente para realizar essas mudanças que incluíram;
- Espaços de estacionamento adequados para idosos fora das bibliotecas de Urlingford e Castlecomer.
- Óculos de leitura/folha de aumento disponíveis para uso na biblioteca
- Carrinho para idosos em Graiguenamanagh e na Biblioteca Municipal
- Programação Age Friendly, como arranjos de flores, escrita criativa, aulas de arte, etc.

O Serviço de Biblioteca do Condado de Kilkenny tem o prazer de participar de Bealtaine novamente em maio. Bealtaine é o festival nacional da Irlanda que celebra as artes e a criatividade à medida que envelhecemos.

Poetry workshop with Tina Hunt - Tuesday 14th May 6pm
Join Tina Hunt for a poetry writing workshop at Graiguenamanagh Library.
The intention of the workshop is to encourage creativity through the writing of poetry. Participants can be new to writing or more experienced; the session is set up to consider both.
During this workshop Tina will discuss various types of poetry and using props to get started with the writing process.

Intergenerational art workshop with Edel Ni Nuallain - Wed 22nd May 3.30pm
Join Edel for a nature Mandala art workshop that is suitable for children and grandparents alike. What better way to explore your creativity than with our younger family members. Participants are encouraged to bring along natural material such flowers, leaves, small stones, shells, twigs, sand, lichen and moss.
Mental health and Wellbeing, through Friendship and Peer Support - Wed May 29th - 11am
Join Mike Watts from the GROW organisation for a talk on the importance of mental health and well-being through friendship and peer support. Mike will outline the way that we currently understand mental health and present some research findings which illustrate the role that friendship and peer support can play in recovery and in personal growth. O nosso serviço porta a porta foi estabelecido durante a pandemia de Covid com grande sucesso e estamos muito satisfeitos por podermos continuar este serviço personalizado. Nosso motorista entregará livros de sua escolha diretamente à sua porta - se você conhece alguém com mais de 65 anos que mora no Condado de Kilkenny e gostaria de aproveitar este serviço, entre em contato com a biblioteca local.

A mesa mágica
A Mesa Mágica consiste em uma série de jogos interativos que são projetados em uma mesa. Os jogos são formulados com a intenção de desencadear um sentimento de reminiscência entre os jogadores, a fim de incentivar a estimulação social, cognitiva e física. Como simulações de luz, os jogos são projetados em uma mesa e incluem jardinagem, pesca e estourar balões. Os jogos de luz incentivam os jogadores a chegar até eles e as luzes posteriormente respondem aos movimentos de suas mãos e braços.
A Mesa Mágica também inclui jogos para pessoas com autismo, esses jogos são descritos como sendo mais diretamente educativos.
A Biblioteca Loughboy abriga a primeira Mesa Mágica instalada em Kilkenny, as Bibliotecas Castlecomer e Graiguenamanagh hospedam mesas portáteis que podem ser emprestadas a instituições externas por um período de tempo cujos usuários podem se beneficiar de seu uso.
